Update

Arvid has been fighting swelling of his legs due to water retention since crossing the Saskatchewan & manitoba border. He’s fought hard to keep up his speed. This afternoon it has become clear that the situation was getting worse.

He feels his only hope in reaching Halifax is to use up his current banked time ahead of record pace to rest and hopefully reduce the swelling issues.

So we’ve decided to rest for day.

If this works, and the swelling goes down, he still had a shot at breaking the record because he’ll hopefully be cycling closer to his normal speed/endurance for the remaining days of the ride. We know when he’s closer to 100% he has to potential to gain some of the banked time back again.

Please pray for a quick recovery as he rests now.

    Good Morning,
“God’s ways are higher than ours” may you find peace of mind in that thought, as you are going into another day. I will continue to pray for those “supernatural wings on tailwind” on your back.

Hey Arvid coming to you from the Rafiki Village orphanage in Nairobi Kenya! We pray that you will find relief from your injuries, that God will provide healing both mental and physical during this extended rest period. Kristyn and I have seen the children in this orphanage and know that Mulley home appreciates the work and dedication you have in helping to provide for their needs. Take care as you finish the journey and be thankful that you are not trying to ride a bike in Nairobi. Traffic is CRAZY!!!

Hey Arvid. Rest and be at peace. The record is not important, its your committment to God and your desire to serve Him that counts. If you break the record we celebrate and if not, we celebrate anyhow. Get ready for Rembrandts!!

Dear Arvid – Your journey so far and even with the decision to rest has been one of faith, commitment to a cause and to a great God. You are only human and therefore must rest and recuperate. Rest also in Gods grace and blessings. Be renewed by the One who can not only renew our spirits but also our bodies. Take care Eleonore Dyck

    Arvid:
Your example is inspiring and your physical ability is incredible. We pray that your body and spirit will stay strong. To the crew, fantastic work in keeping us all up to date. Shout out to Dave and Evan!!

  8. Ken and Betty Anne Kilbrei says:

Being human we know the realities of the flesh being weak even when the spirit is willing. Arvid, you may have succumbed to the God-ordained circadian rhythms of life, but strength and hope will be renewed as you rest. May the Good Shepherd restore your soul and your body as you lie down in peace.

    Hi Arvid,
Good decision and as you say “we will see what God will do with it”. I will pray for healing in your legs and for a refreshing rest.
