Did you know that Arvid…

> 1. wears a beautifully tied scarf under his left knee. No one knows why. > 2. that his left thigh has only 2 thirds the circumference of his right thigh. > 3. at speeds up to 75km/h he still prefers not to wear any shades > 4. played as a soccer goalie for Team Manitoba in the Canada Games > 5. in early March 1993 went on his first 40km bike ride to Birds Hill Park and back on a Canadian Tire mountain bike. After 30km he had to make a call from a corner store to ask his wife Ruth to pick him up. >

Arvid to make a brief stop at Legislature on way through Winnipeg

It has just been confirmed that Arvid will make a brief stop at the Manitoba Legislature on his way through Winnipeg some time on Tuesday, July 5 (if all goes well). We will post estimated arrival times throughout the morning and into the afternoon when we have a better sense of his pace. He’s on a blistering pace so far! Arvid is prepared to speak with Winnipeg media at that time.

Let’s send Arvid on his way by donating today! His goal is to raise $100 for each of the 2000 rescued orphans at Mully Childrens Family in Kenya. Bring your friends to the Legislature, join Arvid by opening your heart.

Follow the blog and twitter for arrival times.

After the nap update

15min of nap time sure make a difference and 2pcs of chicken kick into gear again! Arvid is averaging a good 25 km/h now and ok again.

Sorry for the update delays

We have not been able to upload any video or pictures since late afternoon in Regina. Coverage is good enough for phone calls and tweeter but that’s it. So we were trying Ustream but no luck. Without full 3G coverage we are not getting any media up. Really sorry about that. We are 75km off of Whitewood SK. Arvid was super tired today and had 3 naps ( 2 x 5min and a 15min)

Winds

Finally we have good coverage again and we can upload more footage of the day. We are entering Regina now.

Arvid's Role

God has called me (Arvid) to be an ambassador for Mully Children's Family. I have chosen to use ultramarathon cycling as my platform from which to fulfill this calling. You can follow my ride, here, at www.grandpascan.com/ride. To read more about me and my story, click here.
