Winnipeg Route

In Winnipeg, Arvid plans on continuing down Portage and heading to the Legislative Building. He doesn’t plan to stay long, but you are all welcome to come on out and cheer him on! If that timing or location doesn’t work for you, feel free to come out anywhere else along the 1 (before the city), Portage within, and the 1 on the east.

The strategy of any ultra-marathoner is to balance input with output. There comes a point where rest is the key to completing the task. So Arvid will sleep for an hour.

Nap

Arvid is struggling with sleep deprivation and is taking a one-hour nap. Hopefully that will give him the energy to get back to moving!

Through Regina

Arvid has passed through Regina and is fighting through fatigue and sleep deprivation. In order to deal with it, he has had two short naps already this morning. He is beginning to deal with some slight fluid retention. Looking forward to making it to Manitoba!

Metabolites

Some have asked what Arvid takes to help with the physical stress a activity like this. Basically he controls food intake until his system adjusts to the heavy caloric and metabolic demands made on him. He introduces food slowly into his system and monitors the  effectiveness  of consumption rates.

He does take some metabolites     Otherwise he takes one big dose of “persistence “.

Tech Repair

Music is a big motivator as he cranks out the kilometres.

We made major repair on the lid of his mini radio.

Tech Savvy

Just want to thank those who support us with text messages. Truth is we are are not as tech savvy as required .

We had a long night coming into Medicine Hat with a big push to arrive.

Wind has been from the west helping Arvid. However, he is tired  and we watch over him on your behalf. Did couple of roadside massages to help deal with fluid retention.

Arvid is heading for Caronport Saskatchewan where he will shower for the first time in three days. Also we will change his dressings.

About MCF

Arvid's Role

God has called me (Arvid) to be an ambassador for Mully Children's Family. I have chosen to use ultramarathon cycling as my platform from which to fulfill this calling. You can follow my ride, here, at www.grandpascan.com/ride. To read more about me and my story, click here.
