Mayor road accident!

Stuck in traffic now because of a huge car accident. Gonna take hours apparently. So it looks as though Arvid is through but we will see how long we have to wait or look for a detour.

Arvid’s greeting the evening before the race begins!

Greetings from Arvid,

I want to thank you for your interest and support as the event unfolds. I am very much aware of the adversity I will be facing, and to  be perfectly honest, I am afraid and I do not know how, or if I can handle it. I do not know if I have what it takes to set a new Guinness World Record, but I am prepared to give it my all. What I do know, is that I have what it takes to live out a compassionate love for abandoned children.

Grandpas Can is my platform that extends 6040 km from coast to coast, from which to speak about compassionate love that is a lot more than sympathetic words and well-wishes.

Ruth and I are blessed with three wonderful grandsons, who are loved, cared  for and supported by family and friends. That is how it should be, but it is not that way for thousands of kids.

We have chosen to love and support our ‘boys’ to pieces and then open our arms to include those rescued from the streets, a place where no one cares whether they live or  die. Mully Children’s Family provides that practical love to thousands of kids, and they need people to come alongside them financially to continue to make it happen.

I would like you meet Lillian.

She was eight years old when she was rescued by Charles Mulli. She weighed 16 lbs (right). Below is Lillian when I last saw her.

It is a miracle, possible only because of the generosity of  people who care.

I will carry both pictures with me to remind me that no matter how difficult it gets for me on the road, it pales in comparison to what Lillian, and countless others endure while waiting for someone to care.

I believe that Grandpas can be, and also need to be, leaders in changing the world as experienced  by abandoned children. I also believe that each one of us can make a miracle happen today.

Please consider visiting the donate page and do what you can.

Thanks for following!

Technologically challenged ?!

Well, it seems that we are getting acquainted with all of our gadgets. Arvid saw the apple and took a bite at it. 🙂

Gettin’ prepped!

Cleaning up the RV in the rain. Hopefully the weather and temps get better for us to put up stickers. It’s 15 degrees Celsius outside but the wind would be perfect for riding.

Arvid’s quote of the day after a doctor’s visit

From my doctor: “You have a right thigh of 35 year old cyclist, a left thigh of a 14 year old girl, and heart and determination that is unprecedented. Go for it, you can do it.”

About MCF

Charles Mulli is a former street child from the slums of Kenya. He became extremely successful in business, but then God called him to give it all up and care for the orphaned and abandoned children still on the streets in Kenya. Charles Mulli is the founder and CEO of Mully Children's Family. To learn more about MCF, click here.

Arvid's Role

God has called me (Arvid) to be an ambassador for Mully Children's Family. I have chosen to use ultramarathon cycling as my platform from which to fulfill this calling. You can follow my ride, here, at www.grandpascan.com/ride. To read more about me and my story, click here.

Donate

I am asking you to help. I am trying to raise funds for the ongoing and capital expenses for the child mothers program at MCF. This program provides the critical life skills the young mothers need. To learn more about donating, click here.
