Stopping for coffee

The support crew just stopped for coffee and the bathroom at a small gas station on the side of the road. This was by far the most interesting stop so far. As one of us said: “There are some things in life you only need to do once.”

Another amazing view

It’s too bad Arvid has to work so hard during the climbs. The views are just awesome.

Rain again

It’s raining again. It’s very cold and Arvid has put on heavy rain gear. He also suggested that as the newbie on the Stephen should run behind the van so he knows what it’s like.

Cell reception

The country side is beautiful but the cell reception is terrible. We’ll try to get as much out as we can when we have coverage. Arvid gets enough radio reception for his radio and can listen to the weather. It’s likely we’ll get more rain.

Steadfastness

In spite of the difficult conditions this morning, Arvid is remarkably up beat and positive. He’s asked several times to hear about your comments and responses via twitter and web comments. He finds these very encouraging. Please keep the encouragements coming, even if just to let him know you are thinking of him.

Amazing “old” Man…

Josh and Vic are following in the car with gps, blackberry, iPod touch, iPhone, calculator and iPad making precise calculations as to time, speed, location, guiness pace, etc. What’s kind of creepy amazing is that Arvid knows these numbers in his head While riding his bike without us telling him. Somehow he has a sixth sense computer in his head. Amazing!

About MCF

Charles Mulli is a former street child from the slums of Kenya. He became extremely successful in business, but then God called him to give it all up and care for the orphaned and abandoned children still on the streets in Kenya. Charles Mulli is the founder and CEO of Mully Children's Family. To learn more about MCF, click here.

Arvid's Role

God has called me (Arvid) to be an ambassador for Mully Children's Family. I have chosen to use ultramarathon cycling as my platform from which to fulfill this calling. You can follow my ride, here, at www.grandpascan.com/ride. To read more about me and my story, click here.

Donate

I am asking you to help. I am trying to raise funds for the ongoing and capital expenses for the child mothers program at MCF. This program provides the critical life skills the young mothers need. To learn more about donating, click here.
