Turned the corner at Truro to head south to Halifax at 11:36am Atlantic Time. 95km to go.
Arvid just got
up from a 75 minute snooze. Back on the bike. You can ask Weldon about his encounter with the police during this time.
Arvid, while having a Tim’s break: I’m having issues with my feet. I have other issues too.
Weldon: we are not stopping long enough to listen to all your issues.
Ah the joys of night-time support crewing. Brings our the best in all of us.
Can he figure out
which
bike is his?
your about.
Truck stop at Salisbury, NB. Thank you Mr. Irving
for keeping
your station open all night.
12 hours 304.5 km
Not bad for a guy
that thought he could not get back on the bike last night.
Arvid was impressed with Weldon’s mathematical calculation. Not bad for a guy that is mathematically challenged.
It is shortly before midnight of our last night. Nights have been (and continue to be) extremely difficult but I am thrilled to say I expect this one to go much better.
Reason being, that our three wonderful kids and their spouses along with some friends and family bought a ticket to send Ruth to join us for the last stretch. Ruth has been and continues to be the crew chief with the best understanding of my needs I could ever hope for. Thanks for being here.
The sound
of the four-way flashers that go ALL the time when the vehicle is following Arvid. We have become oblivious to it.
Weldon & Arlene just joined Ruth in the “camel” vehicle which follows Arvid and we will do the night shift. Fritz & Ernie and Dylan have gone ahead to Moncton to get some sleep.
Arvid is keeping up a good pace. In just over 11 hours he has covered 285km. He is feeling good. The night has a chill to it. Many many mosquitos out here which made for a very quick and efficient crew exchange.
Another huge thank you to Marine-Atlantic Ferries and especially Andrew Tobin for their grace in allowing us to cancel our ferry crossing last minute with a full refund!
