We expect Arvid here within the next 10 minutes at which time he will take his night break. He will have dinner and then sleeeeep. See you in a few hours.

Did you know that it is 10,000 kms from Winnipeg to Rio de Janeiro as the crow flies? Just think, if Arvid had set out in a southerly direction , theoretically he could be in Rio for some of the World Cup finals, upon completion of 10,000 kms. Boggles the mind doesn’t it?
Thanks for the visit! Arvid smiles as he is cheered on by Roger & Anne, Frank & Agnes, Shaun & Jessica and Max.
Ed R. came by on bike and encouraged all of us.
Thank you all for the support.
The sun is out and a little warmer today. The wind is an issue for Arvid but he is pushing through. He just finished a lap a little quicker than recent laps which caught the support crew by surprise. Need that to keep the crew on their toes.
Since Arvid started at 10am, the day ticks over at 10am. He needs to average 442km every 24 hours in order to beat the current Guinness World Record. On day 1, Arvid built a 100km buffer over that average pace. He extended that buffer by a small margin on day 2, cycling 451km in 24 hours. That brings his total to 993km with a buffer of 109km.
Continue to support Arvid as he cycles for a Guinness World Record and to celebrate 10,000 lives!
4:06am and Arvid is back on the road. He slept soundly for 2 hours. He plans to do two laps and then have breakfast.
Arvid is on his second last lap before he takes a break for sleep. It is a beautiful night out here tonight.
Thanks to Paul B, Ernie D, Rick, Justin & Shannon, David and Kezia, who cheered Arvid
on in the last few hours.
Arvid has been struggling most of the day today with taking in sufficient calories and processing them. It always takes some time for his body to respond to the big challenge and to metabolize food and translate it in to energy and power efficiently. This evening things have been improving. We are very thankful.
Arlene and I (Ruth) are back on duty for the night.
It is always good to see the smiles on the grandsons and to hear them cheer Grandpa on. Bernie and Jodi and their boys came out tonight.
The weather hasn’t been as expected but the ride is good so
far. Subway lunch today and Arvid works through the process of having his body adjust to meeting the nutritional demands of the physical challenge. A little nap and then on to continue the pursuit.
Arvid’s been on the road for a full 24 hours now. When he’s on a ride I usually go to bed thinking, “He’s still biking.” And wake up thinking, “He’s still biking.” Look back to the roadside crew’s posts for the night’s details, but I’ll give you the 24-hour stats:
24 Hours: 538 km
Total: 538 km
Average: 538 km
Buffer: 96 km (ahead)
Take note, the buffer is calculated on an average of 442km per 24-hour period. This is exactly how many KM he will need to complete in order to match the record. We fully expect Arvid to build a buffer at the beginning and attempt to sustain it for the duration of the ride. Notably, the current record holder would certainly have done more than 442km for the first days as well. We don’t know those splits – all we can do is take an average from his total distance and total time.
Arvid had a 90 minute sleep and was up at 3:45am. A hot cup of coffee and he is on the road again at 4:12am!
It’s a beautiful morning as we hear the sounds of birds chirping waking the world.
Arvid has enjoyed his late-night pasta dinner and is now sleeping.
We realized that we had left the iPhone charger at home so I have picked it up and am on my way back to our home base.
