(A message dictated to the support crew by Arvid early this morning)
Good morning! It is a gorgeous morning to be alive. As I put on my jersey this morning I was struck by the images I saw – Charles Mulli (founder of MCF) with hundreds of his rescued kids. What really struck me were 3 little words. Saving. Children’s. Lives. What an awesome privilege and responsibility. We all have to do exactly that. As I contemplate those words, slowly my reasons why I cannot do this changed to reasons why I can do this.
My challenge to all of us today is to find ways that we can all be part of the many miracles that happen at MCF (Mully Childrens Family). My specific challenge to grandpas today is to raise $500 each for MCF before I reach Halifax in approximately 4 days. I invite you to call your kids + grandkids and encourage them to participate. I’m looking for 100 grandpas! Feel free to contact me on the road. You know where to find me. I’m the old guy on the bike. Please share this with as many people as possible. GRANDPAS CAN. Be one of them.
Arvid we have been following your progress all the way. You have almost doneit. If anyone can do it you can. You have been in our prayers from the start and we will pray or you that you cross the finish line in record time.

hello Arvid, Mona here! Chris and the kids and I are in Winnipeg right now and have been following you since the start. You have humbled us by what you are doing. We are praying for your legs; that the swelling would continue to go down. With you and God doing this together, there is no way you won’t succeed! Blessings to you as you continue on your way. Kiana and Malachi are cheering you on from here!
Hi Arvid,
Your daughter Stephanie attends our church, and we have had the privilege of hearing her give updates the last couple of Sundays. Please be encouraged that many are praying for you! I know some people may think you’re a little crazy for doing this, but I really see that your motivation is the children in Kenya and not simply a world record. I am impacted greatly by your adventure and selfless attitude. And maybe being a little crazy (I use that term affectionately) is working…because you got my attention. I joyfully made a donation to the orphanage and wouldn’t have done so without this adventure you’re on. Also, a big thanks to your crew for doing such an awesome job maintaining this blog with updates, Tweets, video, etc. I find myself making my way to the computer frequently throughout the day to check the map to see where you are and read any updates that have been posted. May the Lord remove those casts from your legs and speed you on to Halifax. I saw one of the Blessings yesterday and told him Grandpa would come home soon and take him for ice cream. My husband wants to know why the RV doesn’t travel in front of you so you could draft. I guess that would be cheating. 🙂
God bless you and encourage you…you’re on the home stretch!

Hi Arvid,
We are glad to see you on the road again. Marianne read me the challenge you are putting out to Grandpas today and I want to be one of the first once to respond to your challenge with a $500.00 Dollar donation to MCFCF.
Arvid, this morning as I was looking at the progress you’ve made and that you’re back on the road again, I pray for strength, for patience and for good health as you continue on. Please be encouraged by Psalm 145:17-19: “The LORD is righteous in everything He does; he is filled with kindness. The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth. He grants the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cries for help and rescues them.”
May you experience God’s presence and love in a special way today!
