Our previous post explains the situation we find ourselves in and even though Arvid is making strides towards mineral balance, hydration and has recovered from heat exhaustion, the reality of RAAM being a timed race simply makes it impossible for him to catch up.
We used our 2008 and 2013 successful RAAM times as indicators in reaching this decision. While it is not easy to make this decision, we have total peace about it. In our pre-race prayer time, Arvid specifically handed the outcome of this ride over to God. We continue to trust Him even when things do not go as planned.
Juergen (crew chief) called RAAM headquarters just a short time ago to submit our DNF (did not finish) status.
Prayers for all of you. You have been faithful. Gods blessings in you!
Great job your an inspiration

May you sense God’s presence and His love for you!
We support your efforts for this great cause. Wishing you a speedy recovery. May God be glorified in everything we do.
Dear Arvid & Ruth (and team),
You continue to run the greater ‘race’ of life very well! Thank you for showing us how to navigate the unexpected. May our gracious God sustain and carry you these next days. Cheering you on!
I am so, so, so aorry to hear this, Arvid. I am praying for you and for the whole team. The training had gone so well. Your courage, your passion, your sacrifice and your dedication continue to inspire me. Be blessed and encouraged in the LORD brother, and in His plans.
Dear arvid,
I cannot even imagine what it is like to train endless hours and be focused on a goal -then to have it not end the way we planned
It takes a lot of strength and determination to do what you do .
It takes humbleness and more strength to release it all into God’s hands.
Not my will but Yours
I truly believe that God has a plan. As my son david said when he 17 – God never wastes any experience and make all things good.
Take care of yourself and rest .
In my prayers and thoughts.
God has a plan for everything, even if at the time it may be hard for us to understand, and we ask “Why Lord? It is for a good cause!”
Glad to hear that everyone is at peace with the situation and the decision to end the race.
I hope and pray that people will send in their donations even if the race ended earlier!
Safe travels home.
