Someone was curious about what Arvid eats on the road besides MacDonalds and Tim Hortons. Each ride is different but the van is always stocked with the following. Red Bull- or hairy cow as Arvid calls it Mint Areo bars Pickles no garlic KFC Apples and oranges and other fruit Coke or Pepsi A bun with cheese and mayo Pizza after he’s off the bike at night Omelets made in the RV with 3 eggs, cheese, a smoky, a tomato, green pepper and salt and pepper to taste finally GoChi juice and Sustain (a supplement) and water Sometimes other things get added and somethings get left out
Arvid’s diet isn’t terrific for this type of endurance. Is he drinking an electrolyte sports drink during the ride with 6-8% carb concentration? This and regular high GI carbs will help with maintaining muscle glycogen stores. He’ll need to alternate water and sports drink to help hydration. His sodium intake sounds almost too good so I can’t see him being hyponatremic or low in sodium – the lower leg swelling is either that his kidneys or heart is suffering and causing fluid retention. Depending on how fatigued he is and degree of fluid retention, he may warrant a visit to a local hospital to rule out renal or heart failure and a check of his electrolyte balance. Hope this is helpful and good luck.

About MCF
Charles Mulli is a former street child from the slums of Kenya. He became extremely successful in business, but then God called him to give it all up and care for the orphaned and abandoned children still on the streets in Kenya. Charles Mulli is the founder and CEO of Mully Children's Family. To learn more about MCF, click here.
Arvid's Role
God has called me (Arvid) to be an ambassador for Mully Children's Family. I have chosen to use ultramarathon cycling as my platform from which to fulfill this calling. You can follow my ride, here, at www.grandpascan.com/ride. To read more about me and my story, click here.
I am asking you to help. I am trying to raise funds for the ongoing and capital expenses for the child mothers program at MCF. This program provides the critical life skills the young mothers need. To learn more about donating, click here.
