Back in Coldfoot

It’s amazing how quickly the conditions can change in the Arctic. Arvid left Deadhorse yesterday with a cool, dusty crosswind. 100 km out it warmed to 18 degrees Celsius with the strong wind occasionally swinging around behind him. But 250 km into the ride, he was met with a dense, smokey fog and a steady rain as he began to climb Atigun Pass (elevation 4739 ft). With visibility of one car length, Arvid pressed on in the now sludge-like gravel incline.

After bike cleanings in creeks and a warm breakfast and “bird bath” in Coldfoot, Arvid will soon be back on the mucky “highway”.

Please pray for strength for Arvid and improved weather and road conditions!!

We can’t imagine you going to sleep (for 10 minutes) in the van in that dirty outfit and it doesn’t look like the “crew” has a laundry near by. We know you will keep on “plugging” for the cause!

Grampa! Playing in the mud looks so much fun! But careful how much you eat – I can attest is upsets the stomach.
-One paddle stroke at a time you will get there. We Love you.

LORD I ask you to keep Arvid encouraged, and in good health as he bikes in these conditions. May you continue to speak to him – with each km can you just give him little God moments along the way … perhaps a tune that comes into his heart – or the sight of your creation that takes his breath away – or even a meal that brings some nourishment to his body. I ask you LORD to keep him mentally, emotionally and physically strong – and spiritually alive to all that you have for him – and all that you have called him to. I pray for his crew – that they also would be a strong support in all ways for him. LORD, you are the one who has created this rugged country – may you keep him secure as he cycles over it. I pray this in your most holy and precious name – Jesus!! Amen

Right on schedule. Cell coverage (and therefore live tracking data) ended an hour out of Deadhorse. I was expecting an update sometime before noon today from Coldfoot. Good job! Keep peddling – hope to hear from you tomorrow in Fairbanks! (I assume that’s your next target)
